We Are Miniscule… And It’s Beautiful That Way!

I am in awe of how much of my lifetime so far I have spent thinking about, and acting on, what little of the vast, unimaginably grand and awe-inspiring universe I can see. Yes, it matters to me, my circle of friends, my species, and even perhaps my planetary home. But when you try to imagine the scale of these issues and accomplishments from the point of view of the universe, which is known to be 13.7 billion years old, and then wonder in utter awe what existed 14 billion years ago, or even 20 billion…

How do we know that the Big Bang was the beginning of time? Don’t get me wrong, I am wholeheartedly convinced that it happened, but the state of all matter before it can’t have come from nowhere, can it? Matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, leaving me wondering what existed before THAT universe (or whatever it was at the time) collapsed into the size of the nucleus of a single atom. What caused it to collapse? Will our universe eventually arrive a similar fate? I think it’s safe to assume that if it ever does collapse again, no one alive today will still be alive when it happens. But to say the least, it’s interesting to ponder.

With all of this said, I am amazed – and infinitely inspired – by the comparison of our petty, momentary, insignificant worries and arguments to this incredible, but oh, so real universe and its history. What little we do know leaves me so humbled and awestruck that the thought of what we don’t know makes me feel completely grateful that I have stopped believing in a book that claims to answer everything.

This is not, not and NOT a jab at said book (the Bible), or the religions of the world. Hope can come from many places, and I mean no harm to any of my religious friends. My only wish is to share this feeling I have, this truly wonderful, HOPEFUL feeling that there’s so much more to existence, life, space and time than meets the eye.

Here is one YouTube video that opened my eyes to the universe:

Wintertusk – Here I’ve Come! :D

Announcement! Announcement! ANNOUNCEMENT!!

My most advanced wizard in Wizard101, Level 58 Life Wizard Rebecca Dreamhunter, finally made it through the Ravenscar questline to reach Wintertusk this morning! Naturally, I took video footage of her first few quests there. I’ll post them as soon as all of the loading time and other slow moments are edited out, leaving only the interesting stuff. 🙂

Ravenscar took her/me forever to get past, especially since I’ve been getting further in Celestia, too, and that’s where I’ve been getting my highest XP gains. Now, though, that will be a non-issue, thanks to my friend, Evan, who helped me defeat the head ravens of the evil Coven and put a stop to the Everwinter… or so my character thought. 😉

Call me mean, but I’m grateful to be fighting the ravens’ army again. The monsters in Wintertusk are Rank 9-10, as opposed to the Rank 6-8 monsters found in Ravenscar, so my guess is that they have the ability to Critical and Block during battle. That’s why I haven’t fought them yet. 😛 Yup, I’m a scaredy cat. The good news there is that I love all kinds of “cats.” 😀

Anyway, kitty jokes aside… I’m just so psyched to be fighting Rank 9’s somewhere other than Celestia. You know, I like playing it safe, but there’s something satisfying about going into a battle with an equally or almost equally powerful creature… and winning. It really says something to me about courage, whether it’s my courage or not. 🙂

And thanks again and again, Evan S! Couldn’t have done it without ya!

Today’s Dream

One thing I’ve noticed about myself these past few years is, I seem to have a different dream every day. I think today’s dream is to be a backup singer. Here I am, singing and harmonizing with the latest Glee songs as they play in iTunes: two from 4×11 Sadie Hawkins, and all the songs from 4×12 Naked and 4×13 Diva (I still haven’t found the courage to watch 4×14 “I Do,” though I read a fabulously in-depth synopsis here). I think I love harmonizing with the melodies even more than I love singing them myself.

I’m fully aware that no one may be reading my blog, so I’m going to stop here. But who knows what tomorrow’s dream will be? I guess I’ll find out when the time comes. 😉

I Just Want To Help!

You’ve seen me go on about Wizard101 and Pirate101; well, my favorite school of magic (from W101) is Life, because Life wizards can heal, and my favorite class (from P101) is Privateer, because they can also heal. I don’t only like to heal myself, either. The reason I chose these character types is because I like playing with other people, and not just playing, but helping. Especially on Wizard101, but on Pirate101 too, I will gladly and eagerly set aside what I’m doing to help a friend with fighting a boss or completing a dungeon.

My point is not to brag here. My point is to explain something about myself: I like to help out where I can, and will go out of my way to do so. Likewise, and this is the ultimate point of this post, I like to help in real, offline life whenever I can. This includes putting a smile on others’ faces when they are down, or really, at any time. Whether its giving a compliment or two, hurrying ahead to open the door for a stranger, volunteering in the community, or the like, I enjoy it. It makes me happy in return. That’s all the thanks I’ll ever need.

It’s the compliments I most wanted to talk about, though. I get a feeling when I give a lot of compliments to people, those words lose some of their strength. I’m not the kind of person who will lie to make people happy, but they say too much of any good thing can make it a bad thing. I’m not worried about my friends taking the compliments for granted. I’m worried about my friends not believing my compliments anymore.

That’s why I’m posting this. I’m not going to stop giving compliments – I refuse. But I do want people to know that I’m being honest, and that what I say I like about them, I really do like. I come from a long line of worriers, so I hope I’m just imagining all this about nice words losing their power to cheer other people up. From intention to reception, those words and their warmth need to keep their strength. I’m not saying them for nothing, after all.

Daily Diary #2: Just Playin’ Scared

I know I haven’t posted daily as I’d planned to do. My bad, and I’m sorry for any disappointment. However, as the saying goes, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. And so…

If you’re the kind of person who likes playing those multiplayer online games where you do quests and fight monsters of some sort (and provided you aren’t downright reckless), you probably know what its like to put off your high-level quests once in a while because they seem to risky. This can lead to a lack of leveling-up as you go back to finish easier quests you didn’t finish yet, which earn you much smaller rewards and much less experience (XP).

Well, as much as I love Wizard101 and Pirate101, I’m avoiding most of my quests on both games with both of my main characters, Rebecca Dreamhunter (Wizard101) and Helpful Rebecca Mainstay (Pirate101).

In Wizard101, I’ve finished every side quest I had in Wizard City, Krokotopia and Marleybone, the first three worlds of the game, not counting side worlds like Grizzleheim and Wysteria. I have two quests left to finish in Mooshu, and then I’ll move on to Dragonspyre and finish all my quests there.

In Mooshu, there’s this place called the Cave of Solitude where, in order to get to the next goal of one of my quests there, I must cross a web of bridges that is populated by several very daunting creatures, including an Enraged Kraken and some other Storm monsters. I have been terrified of crossing these bridges since I first discovered their existence. The part that scares me is this: in almost any other area in the game that I’ve ever been to that has bridges, the creatures never travel along those bridges; they just stay on solid ground, so you are safe if you wait on any bridge. In the web in the Cave of Solitude, however, the creatures use the bridges often, which means you can’t wait on a bridge to plan your next move. You have to keep moving, and what’s worse, the creatures move at different speeds, and on every bridge, creatures move in both directions. Sound impossible? Strangely enough, I’ve made it across before without getting drawn into battle, but whatever strategy I used was nowhere near foolproof. I just happened to be lucky at the time. Grrah, I hate that place…

Meanwhile, on the world of Celestia, where Rebecca DH is supposed to be doing main quests, I refuse to battle alone at my level. I need at least one battle buddy there with me. The thing about Celestia is, the creatures there have access to the same rank of spells that I have, and they have a good chance to hit me twice as hard as normal with any spell, which is known as a critical hit. Though I also have this opportunity because I am over level 50, they also have the ability to block my critical hits, making them regular hits. I prefer to “crit” in Mooshu or Dragonspyre rather than Celestia, because creatures in the first few worlds can’t block it like the more advanced creatures can.

Anyway, in Pirate101, I have the task of battling Armada (aka military) ships in Valencia. I’m not fond of broadside combat, where you fight an enemy ship with cannons and such rather than fighting the enemy in person. My hands and my mouse just aren’t quick enough, or sure enough, to survive for long in that battle mode.

So, I guess that’s it for today! 😛 Thanks for reading!

Daily Diary #1: Starting New Things…

I’m going to try something new, starting today… I’m going to try writing at least 100 words every day. Comment on this post if you have any ideas of what I should post about.

Today, I think I’ll post about Pirate101, KingsIsle’s newest game, and a sister game to Wizard101, which has evolved a lot since I last blogged about it.

To start…
In Pirate101, you start off as a orphaned young pirate in the brig of a military (aka Armada) ship. Captain Boochbeard and Mr. Gandry, both pirates themselves, rescue you and set you on the road to becoming a captain of your own Spiral-renowned pirate ship, with a fortune any pirate would fight for.

Once you’re off the Armada ship and done with the in-game tutorial, Boochbeard directs you toward Capt. Avery, who then sends you on a number of fun quests, each more challenging than the last. At first, you rise in rank quickly, but as with Wizard101, the higher your level, the harder it is to level up further. My character is a level 17 privateer. I’m really glad I chose privateer, because as far as I’ve seen, it’s the only class in the game whose members have the ability to heal themselves and others. I’m a Life wizard deep down, so I love having that lovely little perk.

Well, that’s all of that for today. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to suggest a topic in the comments below! Open-mouthed smile

A response to Glee’s “(You Drive Me) Crazy” cover

I just posted this on my Facebook wall (I made a couple of very minor edits, though):

Just heard (You Drive Me) Crazy / Crazy from tonight’s Glee episode, and it’s well-sung, but I’m telling you… That had BETTER be a dream sequence from Jake’s point of view, because I WANT MARLEY WITH SAM!! </3

There’s no Jake in MY dream sequence. He’s too cold and hardened for a good girl like Marley, and Sam is perfect in that respect. He’s so sweet. He’s like a poor Prince Charming, but closer to nonfictional and SO not a Gary Stu!

And I get to use the P word (respectfully, of course) because I’m poor, too. I HATE Kitty for saying it the way she did. “Richie Poor?” Did she actually make a reference to a non-classic 90’s movie starring Macaulay Culkin, of all people? Was that supposed to be… cool? EAHHHHHH! Wrong! *

By the way, they should NOT have named her Kitty. Yes, it’s a cute, blonde-themed name, but I would have given her some other name instead. My kitty, for one, is a sweetheart, and this may be PMS talking, lol, but I resent the newly-drawn connection to a snobby, Class “A” Mean Girl!

Any thoughts on these topics? Let me know in the comments. Have a great Thursday! Glee tonight!!!

* By the way, I like Richie Rich, as well as many of Macaulay Culkin’s other movies; I just don’t think it was a “cool” thing to make a reference to, seeing as it came out nearly 20 years ago, and I’d be surprised if anyone Kitty’s age has even heard of it, let alone seen it. It was good, but it was in no way a timeless classic.

When I Get Bored…

When I get bored with:

  • Writing fanfiction…
    • I beta read (aka proofread) fellow authors’ fanfiction so that they can post it online.
    • I read and review fanfiction that my friends (or sometimes, people I don’t know yet – a great way to make new friends in the fandom) have written and posted online*.
    • I play Wizard101.
    • I play The Sims 3.
    • I play Popmundo, although in my opinion, the new version kinda sucks compared to the older version I know and love, which they are slowly phasing out. I think when they stop letting me use the old version, I’ll stop playing, because I’ll probably be too confused with version 2.0 to have any fun. 😥 Sucky.
    • I post stuff to this ‘ere blog. 😛
    • I watch past episodes of Glee and dream about it’s return for Season 4 on September 13. C’mon, Septemby, hurry up!!
  • Gaming…
    • I blog about the games I play.
    • I plan out my own “dream game,” including as many intricate details as I can come up with in my notes (or just thinking about them if I don’t feel like making notes).
      • Sometimes this is a web game, where you would register, log in, and play with friends from all over the world.
      • Other times it might be the kind of game you’d download and install on your own computer.
      • Most often, though, my game plans are for a (3D) graphical computer (downloaded and installed) game which would connect to the internet, so you can still play with other people worldwide.
    • I go to Facebook and/or read other interesting blogs, such as that of the brilliant Amelia.
    • I shop on Amazon for stuff for me and my luffly kitty, Selena.
  • Politics…
    • I look around for cat and kitten pics/videos.
    • I play my games or write (if I can manage to do the latter).
    • Idly surfing the web…
      • I go take a walk to the store to get munchies when I have the munchies.
      • Far too rarely, I take an actual “exercise”-type walk around the neighborhood or something.
      • I lie down in bed with shades down and lights off and use the distraction-free environment as an opportunity to think about and improve my story-in-progress, currently “Yesterday’s Gone.”

What do you do what you get bored in your free time?
Post your answers in the comments section. I love comments!

* I know Fanfiction.net has gotten a lot of heat recently from authors who write M-rated stories and, thus, are worried that the FFN staff will delete it in accordance with their newly reinforced terms of service, which are now more strictly enforced. However, I have no intention of boycotting them for this reason. I have what I like to call a “young mind,” meaning I don’t like reading about sex or graphic violence, so these newly renovated rules (excuse the alliteration) are actually a great thing for me. All of my stories are rated either T for teens and older, or K+ for kids ages 9 and up. I have never put any graphic violence or explicit sexual scenes in ANY story I have written, and I’m pretty sure you could find harsher language in alive action Disney movie, such as Bicentennial Man, which you have to admit has a few scattered swears, and even some mild sexual jokes. Anyway, I’m well aware I’ve gone off-topic, and I apologize, but I think you can see what my point is. I still love Fanfiction.net, even as several of my writer friends have started to boycott it. The boycotting isn’t bad, either. Stand up for what you believe in, just don’t hate me if I don’t feel the same anger, and perhaps even betrayal, that you might feel. I respect your feelings. Thank you for reading this “insanely longly**” ramble.

** Inside joke. Hahahee… Feel free to ask. This post just isn’t the place to answer. It was supposed to be a short post; too many more words are required to explain, and right now, I can’t seem to shut up. Oh, well. 😀

My Thoughts on Glee’s “Rumours” Episode (Yes, over a year later!)

A little late, I know, but here are my thoughts on Glee’s nineteenth episode of Season 2, Rumours. Just so you know, the counter I used starts the second the “And here’s what you missed on Glee!” intro starts, right smack at the beginning of the episode. Hopefully it corresponds with the DVD version well. Watch and read at the same time; it’s supposed to be fun!

1:15   So by the way, Tina, what is that rumor about Asian men? Does anyone here know? Anyone? I’ve got no clue.

1:48   Um, Brittany? Atkins is a humans-only diet. 😛 So not for cats… and neither is cheese.

1:59   I always wave back at Tina, lol…

2:11   Okay, Rachel, admit it. You kinda deserved that for what you did to him later in this episode. Am I wrong? Seriously.

2:18   Well, yes, Sam’s lips are indeed cute, but mind you, they ain’t gonna be yours to smooch! That right belongs to future Mercedes. Samcedes shipper in da house, yo!!

2:26   It’s the confidence, Rachie. It’s the over-freakin-confidence. Only Finn needs it. Only Finn wants it. Got humility?

2:31   What else could no mean? Seriously, guys, let’s all brainstorm some possible hidden meanings for the word “no.”

2:34   THIS, Ryan Murphy, was a major reason why so many people “assumed” Sam was a junior in Season 2. If he wasn’t really a junior, then why the heck did he look so disappointed about not going to the junior prom? He had obviously wanted to go long before Rachel had asked him to be her date. This – confuses – me!

4:01   Oh, good grief. No one in their right (or left) mind even likes Ann Coulter. This line here scares me.

4:28   April cracks me up every time I see or hear her. She’s adorable.

4:36   And Will asks, “Emma who?” Come on, this isn’t your teen years. Focus on Emma! You know, Pillsbury. Don’t go developing a whole new crush on Missy Broadway!

4:53   Weighing yourself down? Are those brilliant works of performance art not good enough for you?

5:24   …and you obviously have no interest in finding out the real story, am I right, Rachel?

5:30   See how Rachel opens the newspaper to the center pages? And in a few seconds, Finn’s gonna tell Sam and Quinn that the article is “right on the FRONT PAGE of the school newspaper!” Weird how these things change, huh?

5:56   Because he’s a better person than you were. Just sayin’.

6:24   Can someone please tell me why Quinn glares at Sam like any of that is HIS fault?

6:36   Have you ever tried that? I would barf if I had to literally DRINK a dinner. Unless it was one of those meal-replacement milkshakes. Those are good. At least the ones I’ve tried. But yeah, I know what April meant.

6:49   That’s blunt? Sounds pretty gentle to me. Not that I’m complaining.

6:54   What was your play gonna be about, then, if not your life and your emotional journey? I shudder to think… LOL!

7:15   Ooh, mac & cheese? No? Bummer. I miss that stuff.

7:30   Look at her, trying to catch the straw with her tongue. Haha. She probably thinks she’s being sexy by doing that. I just think it’s a huge slice of funny cake.

7:39   Ahh, the look on her face when she mumbles that little confession… Just LOL.

7:45   What’s been stopping you, Mr. Schue? You’re the teacher. Teach what you want, within reason. And this is well within reason.

9:47   Major Wemma-saving little hint-hint right there!

10:27 Almost always, Artie… Almost.

10:38 Oh, re-heally? Since when, Britts? Since you and Santana did that?

10:43 I just laugh. Funny, funny, Brittsy.

11:04 Was that meant to refer to friendship, too? Because it kinda… did. Friends share themselves with each other, don’t they?

11:23 UH-OH!!!!! BIIIIIG MISTAKE! You done made her cry…..

12:52 No jokes on this mark. This guitar symphonette (made-up word, don’t bother looking it up) is a favorite. Beautiful. And the guitar players seem to be moving as one. Very… well, moving.

13:36 I guessed the first time I saw this moment that Sam’s big character development was gonna be about him being homeless and living at that infamous hotel. At the time, I wondered how no one else in the glee club (besides Quinn) seemed to have known about his living situation by now, especially his teachers (including Mr. Schue). Of course, we hear the answer near the end of the episode, don’t we? Ever since, I’ve seen these shots of this motel and the people living there, and wanted to cry. I feel that way to this very day, after seeing this episode at least twenty times.

14:44 Do what, Mr. Gullible? Visit someone else with a friendly and much-needed gift?

15:00 ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Sam, the glee club sweetheart, a serial killer? :O Just ugh.

15:38 Poor Brittsy. You look it. … Sad, I mean. You look sad. You don’t look like a panda.

16:00 “Sorry. No offense.” That’s out-of-character! Since when does Santana apologize for ANYTHING?

18:25 What does golf have to do with being a lesbian? Did I miss something? I just don’t see the connection there.

18:47 *swoon* That charming smile! Ahhhhh… *swoons and faints*

19:02 I love how Kurt handles this round of accusations. He’s so ultra-awesome.

19:37 I also love the head-twitch there. That’s just too cute. Ha!

21:15 That’s some gall Brittany has here! Oooh… In her ridiculousness, did she forget she’s a student?

21:45 Perfect. Thank you, Brittany.

22:05 Isn’t that gurgling sound funny? Yeah, I soooo don’t like Jacob. And neither does my story, Yesterday’s Gone.

22:49 Face toilets! I want one of those! LOL, I wonder what it would look like! Haha!!

23:18 “The stormee!” LOL! That’s the second cutest fake word in this episode! Probably in the whole season, too. I wanna be the stormee! Please, can I? 😛 😀

23:58 Ha, Brittany loves it…

24:19 Thumbs up to that thumbs-up, Finny!

25:30 Frankly, so do I. 😛 Sorry Finnster.

26:15 And that’s the girl who dyed her hair the color of watermelon bubblegum. But who’d want to chew on that piece?

28:22 Aww, sleepy kitteh… ❤

28:27 You’re still not mad at Lord Tubbington? Why? Didn’t he start smoking again? LOL! Switch “still” and “not,” and this wouldn’t be nearly as funny, but at least it would mean what it was meant to mean. But meh… that would be BORING!

28:33 Look bored. Now look at the camera. Good kitty.  Hey, Brittsy, are you sure this one smokes?

29:02 What’s Will chewing? He just sat down. 😛 Acting FAIL.

30:06 Wait… he’s crying? I don’t see it… Acting FAIL #2!

31:15 Huh? Why is the drum set (and Finn) on the opposite side of the room from the rest of the band all of a sudden? 😛

33:05 This is where I start to get really nervous for Sam. 😛 😦

33:24 As you can clearly see, Chord is obviously the star of this episode. The MVP, naturally.

33:53 And… my heart breaks. </3

33:56 And… my heart breaks a second time. 😦

34:02 And my mood hits rock bottom. Three strikes, you know. 😥

34:19 I usually skip past most of this (to me, pointless) scene to go back to the subject of Sam.

35:34 “Knock-knock!” “Who’s there?” “Open up, I’m your guitar! Didja miss me?” “Holy…”

35:45 CUTIE!

35:57 My heart just broke again. When will it STOP?? </333

36:02 Didn’t Sam just say it wasn’t? The rest is in the car. Sheesh.

38:21 Okay, all four of the broken pieces of my heart just shattered themselves. He’s freaking crying! I feel so horrible!! I’m serious, I cry just about every time Sam does here. And I mean sobbing crying, not like, misty-eyed crying. Oh. My. God.

38:26 I just had to stop watching and walk around the apartment a little. I can’t stand this part. It’s so sad…

38:41 Okay, I am so ticked off that so many people think this was the first time he’d EVER cried. Babies cry all the time. Kids cry often, even the boys. I find it hard to believe he didn’t cry at home the day he dumped Quinn for cheating on him. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: he meant it was the first time he’d cried about his family’s financial crisis. Do you really think a sweetheart like Sam had never cried before in his entire life? This wasn’t a plot hole. It was a misunderstanding on the part of the fans. At least, those fans who believed what they thought was obvious, but is actually physically and psychologically impossible. Think about it, Gleeks.

38:47 Oh, she’s too sweet. Three guesses where she got that trait from. 🙂 Sam, Sam and Sam. CORRECT!

39:29 What the hell is she doing THAT for?!? Are you KIDDING me? WHY?

40:09 “If you brought them”? I see they’re already there. Didn’t you mean “that you brought them”?

40:35 THAT smile (and the voice to go with it) makes me feel dizzy. *faints willingly* I go quietly…

41:38 Yes, Will. Yesterday is gone. But tomorrow, these kids need you to be there with them and for them. We know you’ll make the right choice, Mr. Schue.

41:49 OHHH! THIS PART GIVES ME CHILLS EVERY SINGLE TIME! Be on top of the world Sammykins! You deserve a little something to smile about!

42:18 My heart is officially mended!

42:20 And that’s what you DIDN’T miss on GLEE! 😀

My Favorite Wizard101 Video Yet

* Note: All links (with the exception of the YouTube video) go to an unofficial, fan-made Wizard101 website called Wizard101 Central. I am a member of their forums and their wiki, but I claim no credit for their awesomeness. All credit for the information linked to herein goes to the amazing, brilliant and magical young wizards who tirelessly researched it within the game universe, and posted it on the site. 🙂 I have yet to find anything of value to add to their already impeccable wiki. Lol. *

Hi, everyone! I know I haven’t been keeping up with this blog as religiously as, perhaps, I should have, but the good news is, I’ve finally reached Dragonspyre, the fifth storyline world in the Spiral (aka: universe) of my favorite game, Wizard101. Hooray, right? I’m that much closer to going up against Malistaire! Sweet. I’m already level 46, doing quests in the Drake Hatchery, and I’m trying to only do main storyline quests for as long as I can. That is, of course, except for Zeke’s “Stone Roses” quest, and the Dragonspyre crafting quests (which I finally completed earlier this morning).

However, I’ve been reading ahead via the WC Wiki for a while now, and I’m already ITCHING to reach the newly-released world of Avalon. I’ve also been watching videos of the new world on YouTube. Here’s a great one of the last boss fight encountered in Avalon, and all that comes next:

You’ll notice that the video is sped up to make the video easier to upload and, presumably, to sit through, though I had no trouble with the video’s length. 🙂

Also, I personally prefer videos like this, which feature the actual game’s music and sound effects, over the ones with added background music or narration in place of the original audio. I’ll venture a guess that many people will disagree with that statement, and that’s fine, because it’s just a statement of my own, humble opinion. 🙂 I like to hear the spells and the background music that I have yet to experience because I’m not yet in Avalon.

If you’re reading this and have uploaded Wizard101 videos, even if they aren’t from Avalon or don’t use the original audio, leave a link in the comments! I’d love to watch them. I could watch and play Wizard101 non-stop for days if my sleep schedule would only allow for it. 🙂 (YouTube and Vimeo links only, please! No other video links will be allowed here, in an effort to reduce spam. Sorry!)

* * * On an unrelated note: who else watched Glee’s Season 3 finale this week? I laughed, I cried, I loved it. It was amazing. <3! * * *
